School partnerships as part of dual learning
Work-based learning groups bridge the gap between school and the real world of work: for 2–3 days a week, the young people gain practical experience in various occupational fields at the aircraft workshop; on the remaining days, they attend school as usual.
Working in small groups, they receive intensive support, build their self-confidence and acquire basic vocational skills, whilst at the same time being prepared for their school-leaving qualification.
Experience craftsmanship and technology
In collaboration with aerospace engineers, we have built a flight simulator from an original Boeing 737 cockpit. More than 70 young people were involved during the two-year construction period.
And today, young people can fly just like real pilots.
Collaborative projects
As part of funded projects, we sometimes collaborate with other organisations, companies or Tempelhof Airport.
To ensure that the young people’s vocational preparation is as realistic as possible, we take on commissioned projects which are planned and carried out by the young people themselves.
Our own ideas and working together
At the Fliegerwerkstatt, there are plenty of opportunities to bring your own ideas to life. Our workshop areas – woodwork, metalwork, flight simulator, sewing, screen printing and cooking – are professionally equipped and provide scope for creativity.
To encourage active collaboration, there are sports activities and plenty of games on offer.
