It was exciting until the end. Then Dr. Evers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Berliner Sparkasse, announces in a video message which of the three finalists has won the Roman Herzog Prize 2020: the Fliegerwerkstatt!
For a long time it was not clear whether the sailing trip could take place this year. But then 14 young people finally started. For one week the Fliegerwerkstatt was on the way on the 100 year old flat bottom ship ‘Medusa’ in the Ijsselmeer.
We are extremely excited to have made it into the three finalists of the Berliner Sparkasse Roman Herzog Prize! Now we have to wait until the award ceremony on 2 November.
As part of the cooperation with Arbeit und Bildung e.V. and the Institute for Productive Learning, we are running the project ” Practical training for young people refugees” in the second year. This programme is funded by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family.
The first 70 participants* from 5 different schools each completed a week of orientation in the Fliegerwerkstatt.
With the beginning of the new school year we have a new cooperation partner. The welcome class of the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium comes to the Fliegerwerkstatt once a week as part of the ‘practical learning’ programme. Handicraft projects run parallel to targeted language training with practical relevance.
From 20 July to 07 August, the Fliegerwerkstatt will be participating in the summer school programme of the Senate Administration for Education, Youth and Family.
Check out the video of Arthur: he built a jukebox and created a YouTube video about it. Thanks Arthur, it was a lot of fun!
From 5 May the Fliegerwerkstatt will be open again. Everything is prepared to resume work on the projects in small groups under the necessary hygiene and protection measures.
We are looking forward to seeing the young people again!
We used the time of the contact ban in the home office to compile an annual report about the many different projects of the Fliegerwerkstatt.
Enjoy reading it!
